AFC Liverpool 1 v 2 Irlam

On a wet and windy day at Valerie Park, AFC Liverpool played host to Irlam FC in the Vodkat League.

Before the match, the Manager of the Month Award was presented to AFC Liverpool manager Derek Goulding, by League Secretary John Deal.

The game started with both teams showing some good attacking play, but it was Irlam who opened the scoring on 5 minutes, when Number 6 Ben Young was played in, and slotted into the far corner of Paul Willis’ goal.
Both teams then settled down, with AFC Liverpool having the lions share of posession for the remainder of the first half.
After the break, Irlam came out looking to seal the win, and duly responded with another goal on 68 mins, courtesy of their number 9 Matthew Williams.
Undeterred, AFC Liverpool responded immediately with a reply less than a minute later, when the ball fell to River Humphries, who hit the back of the net to bring the score to 2-1.
Unfortunately, AFC Liverpool couldnt find the equaliser, despite bringing off a defender and replacing with a striker, to try and win the game.

Next game up is Holker Old Boys away in the league.
