Dinnington Town Match Preview

AFC Liverpool take a break from league action this weekend as they take on Dinnington Town in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Vase.

It will be a case of déjà vu for both teams as they met each other at the same stage of last year’s competition, and on that occasion it was the visitors who left Valerie Park with the spoils. Despite taking an early lead through Matthew Williams, it wasn’t to be what the Reds had hoped for in their first ever FA competition as two goals from Liam Morris ensured that it was Dinnington Town who progressed through to the next round.

The visitors, who hail from the NCEL Premier Division, have already beaten Vodkat North West Counties opposition to set up this year’s tie when they beat Wigan Robin Park 2-0 at home. In the league though, Dinnington Town haven’t had the best of starts, winning two and drawing one of their opening seven games and currently lie in twelfth, and like the Reds, they too exited the FA Cup in the Extra Preliminary Round.

AFC Liverpool will be looking to get back to winning ways following last week’s goalless draw against Ashton Town. David Derefaka is unavailable for selection as he suffered a broken hand in that game and he joins Conor Murphy and Francis Barry on the injury list.

Date: 18th September
Time: 3pm
Venue: Valerie Park, Hope St, Prescot, L34 6ND
