Goulding Hails First Half Performance
AFC Liverpool manager Derek Goulding has expressed his pleasure at Saturday’s 4-0 victory over Daisy Hill.
Goulding said: “Overall, I’m pleased with the result. The first half was spot on.”
“The second half we tailed off, and all credit to Daisy Hill who came out and restored a bit of pride.”
“It could have been better. I’d say we went a bit too long in the second half instead of playing our normal patient passing game. But the 4-0 result was pleasing.”
Dean Thurston, the club’s leading goalscorer, was substituted early into the game on Saturday after a bad challenge against him, and Goulding feels he may now be out for a couple of weeks.
“Saturday is probably too soon for Dean”, he said. “We’ll have to see with him, but hopefully he’ll be out only for a couple of weeks at most.”
There is better news on the injury front with regard to influential midfielder Ian Johnson, who has a decent chance of being passed fit for Saturday’s Cup match away to Holker.
