Irlam 2-3 AFC Liverpool
Two goals from Shaun Chart and one from Richard Stenhouse were enough to give the Reds victory over Irlam at Silver Street.
Positive from the outset, AFC Liverpool took the lead through Chart when he latched onto Stenhouse’s wayward shot and slotted home.
Looking comfortable, they were pegged back when Pegg rounded off the home side’s first incisive move of the match. It was Chart, scoring his fourth goal in three matches, that restored the Reds’ lead before half time when he latched onto James Rushton-Woods’ through ball before poking past the onrushing keeper.
The lead was further exteneded shortly after the break as Stenhouse claimed his first goal for the club. Darren Torpey delivered his free kick to the edge of the area and Stenhouse flicked on past a stranded keeper who had come off his line to meet the ball.
With further chances to finish off the match not taken, it was a tighter ending than it should have been. Williamson pulled one back for the home side three minutes from time but the Reds saw out the remainder of the game to take all three points.
