League Cup Preview
The Reds return to action this Saturday after a two week break with a North West Counties League Challenge Cup tie away to Flixton.
This will be AFC Liverpool’s second visit to Valley Road this season following the 2-1 league defeat back in September and hopefully the visitors will have a little more luck on their side this time. Having looked on to secure their first win of the season through Shaun Chart’s first half strike, two late and somewhat fortunate goals saw the Manchester based club come from behind to claim all three points. With four minutes remaining and with the assistance of the wind, Joshua Bowman leveled the scores from a forty yard free kick before a cross that deflected off a couple of Reds defenders before bouncing off Brian Matthews gave the home side a winner in the ninetieth minute.
Since that game the hosts have won five, drawn once and lost twice and currently sit second in the league, level on points with leaders Runcorn Town, though having played two games more.
