Wigan Robin Park Preview
AFC Liverpool have the opportunity to put last weekend’s disappointing FA Vase exit behind them when they take on Wigan Robin Park at Valerie Park tomorrow afternoon.
The visitors, along with the Reds, are one of the main challengers to take a top two spot and subsequent promotion, and currently lie in fourth place, behind the Reds only on goal difference. Like the Reds, they haven’t seen much action since the end of November, having played just two matches, beating Eccleshall 6-1 at home in mid December and then going down 2-1 away to AFC Blackpool on the New Year bank holiday.
Hailing from next door to their more illustrious Premier League neighbours, the Robins joined the Vodkat League at the same time as AFC Liverpool and so far have never lost on their visits to Valerie Park. They were the first team to inflict a competitive defeat on the Reds in our first season, winning 2-1 on that occasion, and then last season they left with a 1-0 victory.
A home win against the Robins would be a welcome change and would go a long way towards the Reds’ promotion campaign.
