AFC Liverpool continued in their pre-season preparations with a very creditable draw away, to a well organised Wrexham XI.

Although Wrexham fielded a second string and youth mix, it was obvious that our opponents have benefited from being part of a well organised outfit, who ply their trade at a much higher level, and have seen teams like Barcelona and the Welsh National team use their facilities.

The game kicked off ealier than the advertised time due to a concern the lack of floodlights may end the game prematurely.

It was Wrexham who had the best of the opening 10 minutes, which saw them take the lead with an easy tap-in. AFC Liverpool quickly settled into a rhythm though, and a commanding performance from Phil Stafford in centre midfield, saw us closing down Wrexham, and stopping their passing game.

We were rewarded for all the hard work with a goal from Andy Olsen, who seemed to win everything in the air, to bring the game level at half time.

Second half kicked off early, and continued with some great possession and movement from AFC Liverpool. Within minutes, Andy McCoy won a free kick just outside the Wrexham area, and a clever pass to Franny Barry, saw the impressive forward flick the ball into the back of the Wrexham net, to see us go 2-1 up.

However, a win was not to be, as Wrexham pushed forward, and a cracking 40 yard strike from just outside the centre circle found the bottom right corner of the net to see the game finish 2-2.

A very impressive result against a polished outfit.

Special thanks go to Liverpool Legend Joey Jones (pictured) who took to the stage to share his experiences with fans, and was a perfect gentleman. He took time to chat with everybody, and even posed for photographs and signed various items. We would like to thank Joey for an excellent evening, and hope that he wears his AFC Liverpool scarf with pride !

Other thanks go to Frames Snooker Club, for putting on a great night and making everyone feel welcome. Service with a smile, and the food was great (although Joey was disappointed there were no frogs legs or swiss roll !)

The event helped raise funds for the club, so thanks again to everyone involved.

A new look AFC Liverpool side took to the fields on a sunny day in Wales against Druids hoping to kick off their pre-season in good fashion. However things took a turn for the worst early on when an AFCL own goal put Druids ahead.

At half time the score remained 1-0.

The second half started with AFCL on top with tempers flaring and rain pouring. Druids took advantage and scored against the run of play making the score 2-0.

It looked like AFCL would have to wait for another day to get a positive result however Matty Cushion managed to grab a goal back making the score 2-1. AFC Liverpool continued to attack leading to new number 9 Barry scoring the equalising goal to make the final score 2-2.
