Though they couldn’t finish the season as champions league winners, the Under 12’s were the Rainhill & St Helens Junior Alliance League champions and cup double winners and have done the whole club proud.

One of the champions of the eight Liverpool leagues taking part in the competition, they were runners up in the group stage which saw them progress through to the semi final last Sunday. In torrential conditions, they won 2-0 against TMS of the Walton & Kirkdale League.
In the final they will take on Woolton Wanderers of the Merseyside & Halewood Junior Football League. The game takes place at the De La Salle Academy, Carr Lane East, Croxteth Park, L11 4SG with the kick off at 1pm and we wish the lads the best of luck.

In other youth news, AFC Liverpool will have two teams, Under 12’s and Under 13’s, competing in the Liverpool Knowsley International Youth Soccer Tournament which takes place at the end of July. Over 130 teams will take part in the tournament, which is FIFA approved and acknowledged to be one the best youth tournaments in the country.
In the initial group stage, the Under 12’s have been drawn against  Birbeck Boys, Knowsley South and Netherton Park while the Under 13’s will take on Ashville Youth, Ash Celtic and from the USA, Florida Alliance Academy. The group games take place at Liverpool University Geoffrey Hughes Playing Fields, Mather Avenue, Allerton, L18 6HF from Tuesday 26th to Thursday 28th July with the semi finals and finals taking place over the weekend of the 30th/31st.

Additionally, the Under 13’s will take on Tranmere Rovers’ Under 13’s next Thursday, 28th July with the kick off at 6pm @ Raby Vale, Willaston Road, Thornton Hough, CH63 4JE.

Finally, August will see all AFC Liverpool’s youth teams face their counterparts from Wrexham FC and further information will be given once the fixtures are confirmed.

They face Whiston Celtic and having already secured the league title, the team will be looking to complete the double.The game kicks off at 7.45 pm Wednesday 4th May.

Having finished the season level on points with Newton Athletic, the two sides met to decide who would be crowned champions and it was the Reds who came out on top, winning 4-0. A record of seventeen wins and a draw from nineteen games is a record to be proud of and is one worthy of champions. Once again, congratulations to all involved with the team.

Kicking off at 10.30am at Whitby Sports and Social Club in Ellesmere Port, the team will take on Newton Athletic to see who will be crowned league champions. The teams finished the season level on points, both having won sixteen and drawn one of their eighteen games. With each team’s solitary defeat coming against the other, it couldn’t be any closer and no doubt it will go right down to the wire tomorrow.

The team, plus two boys from one other team in the league, will take on Hightown Junior League FC at the Liverpool Soccer Centre at Walton Hall Park this coming Tuesday, 5th April, with the kick off at 6pm.

Joe Wright’s boys also have another final to look forward to when they face Whiston Celtic in the St Helens & Rainhill Challenge Cup. This game takes place at Valerie Park on Wednesday May 4th at 7.45pm.

The team are on course to win 4 trophies this season, having already won the Adam Bell Trophy earlier in the month, beating Arriva Youth.

The Liverpool County F.A. Cup is the most prestigious trophy for U16’s in our area as any team from any league who are affiliated to the F.A. can enter so it would be a real achievement to win it.

They have already reached the Final of the Craven Minor Adam Bell trophy whose final is held at Burscough’s ground where a certain Derek Goulding masterminded the defeat of Gillingham in the F.A. Cup and are at the quarter final stage of the Craven Minor Ken Les trophy whose final is to be held at the home of Southport F.C. one of Derek’s old playing grounds.

The Craven Minor league is a tight affair, having probably 4 or 5 teams which could contest any other Merseyside league. Bad weather and good cup runs have seen many of our fixtures postponed and we currently lie in third position but after winning nine out of our ten games to date we can go 7 points clear if we win our games in hand.
