AFC Liverpool Under 18’s Begin Campaign

AFC Liverpool’s promising youth side played their first game today in the northwest youth alliance league, and got off to a very impressive start.
They faced Marine’s youth team and managed to beat them 4-1. Goals from Billy Sutton, Joseph Evans, Jordan Gerrard and Kieron Long all made sure of the victory, in a game which the score line flattered the winning side.
Marine had a number of chances to lessen the Deficit but young debut keeper, Chris Brinksman, kept them out on numerous occasions, while at the other end of the pitch clinical finishing made sure AFC Liverpool came out victorious.
Manager, Ian Porter, gave the man of the match to Kevin Mcellin at the heart of the defence, although the award was tightly contested by skipper Joe Evans and Kieron Long who also had good games.
Its a good start to the season as Marine have a good youth set up that has been established for a number of years and they expect themselves to be battling at the top of the table, come the end of the season.
The Next match for the youth side is next Sunday at 2pm away to Glossop.
